FIRST UNITARIAN CHURCHBUILDING RENTAL POLICYAPPROVED 11/18/07It is the policy of the Board of Trustees of the First Unitarian Church of Sioux City, Iowa, that the church building and facilities be available for programs that are compatible with the purpose of this church. These programs shall be sponsored by a church member or approved by the church administrator or minister, subject to review by the Board of Trustees. Members and others supporting the church through annual pledges may use the building and facilities without any charge for church related programs. Generally, non-church groups shall be charged a service fee for use of the church building and facilities. Fees will be reviewed yearly by the Trustees for the purpose of covering the cost of keeping the building open. Fees cover a four-hour period and include ordinary custodial services. Unusual requirements for furniture arrangements, excessive custodial work or additional hours of service will result in additional charges. At the discretion of the minister and/or Executive Committee, civic or philanthropic organizations may be permitted to hold single meetings in the church at a reduced fee or for no charge when they do not interfere with the regular church program. The minister shall have the discretion to perform religious services and ceremonies on church premises so long as the same are consistent with UUA principles. In addition she/he may hold meetings of a professional or “working” nature consistent with our principles without seeking authority or incurring charges. This courtesy would not include meetings open to the public with speakers, ones for which there is a charge, etc. Arrangements for the use of the building are made through the church office which is responsible for implementing this policy under the supervision of the Buildings & Grounds Committee.
