Bylaws and Policy Guidelines
This committee is responsible for reviewing and updating the bylaws and policies of the First Unitarian Church of Sioux City as needed and requested by the Board of Trustees. Suggested changes must be presented to the Board in a timely manner enabling the Board to present them, for ratification by the members of the congregation, at the Annual Congregational Meeting held in April of each year.
Nominating Guidelines
1) Locate church members willing and able to serve on the church Board of Trustees, should they be elected, prior to the annual meeting in April of each year.
2) Members should be prepared to answer questions, to the best of their ability, as to the commitment of time required as well as the duties and responsibilities of a board member.
Personnel Guidelines
The Personnel Committee consists of three members (the Board of Trustee President is a non-voting member) who supervise and support the paid staff of the church and recommend wage and benefit programs for approval by the Board of Trustees.
This committee is responsible for maintaining updated job descriptions for all paid positions within the First Unitarian Church of Sioux City. Personnel Members, with the approval of the board, interview and hire personnel as needed and approved by the board, perform bi-annual job reviews, recommend pay increases, and, when necessary, handle grievances and provide notification of job termination.
